A public declaration attributed to former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo has brought renewed attention to unity within the Kantanka family following the passing of its patriarch, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.
In a statement circulating online, Adwoa Safo publicly acknowledges her brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, as the leader of the Kantanka family and the Kristo Asafo Church, pledging her support and willingness to work alongside him.
The message, represents a significant expression of family solidarity at a time when the Kantanka family continues to reflect on the legacy of its late founder.
The statement reads:
“I publicly acknowledge and accept my brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, as the leader of the Kantanka family and the Kristo Asafo Church. He has my full support, and I am prepared and willing to work together with him in the interest of the family and the church.”
The declaration is especially meaningful because it emphasises cooperation rather than rivalry, and the collective interests of the family and church rather than individual ambition.
The declaration follows months of disagreement over leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission after Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka died in September 2025.
In June 2026, a family statement challenged Israel Kwadwo Safo’s claim to leadership, citing disputed succession arrangements. The disagreement also led to legal proceedings involving members of the church.
Adwoa Safo had previously maintained that her position was intended to uphold what she understood to be her father’s final directives, rather than to pursue personal control of the church or his estate.
Her October 8 statement therefore marks a notable change in her publicly expressed position. Adwoa Safo explained that her decision was grounded in love, mutual respect and the enduring bonds of family.
She urged relatives and members of the Kristo Asafo Church to move beyond past disagreements and work together to preserve their father’s vision.
She also emphasised that their father’s legacy belonged to all his children and carried a shared responsibility to future generations.
Her statement concluded with a prayer for healing, unity and renewed strength within the family.
For Apostle Michael Asabere, popularly known as The Only Living Saint, the development is particularly touching.
Aww! This is so touching. My heart is finally at peace.
Thank you very much, my Queen, Sarah Adwoa Safo, for this great move. You have demonstrated that family unity, forgiveness and the preservation of a father’s legacy can be more important than personal differences.
May our living God bless both you and Nana Israel Kwadwo Safo, so that you may lead and work together in peace, love and unity.
Since the passing of the Great One, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, this is the best news I have received concerning the family.
May the legacy of the Great One continue to shine through his children and generations yet unborn.
Where there is love, there is forgiveness. Where there is forgiveness, there is peace. And where there is peace, unity can flourish.
Apostle Michael Asabere, The Only Living Saint
Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka’s legacy extends beyond the Kristo Asafo Church to Ghanaian innovation, technology, industrial development and the promotion of indigenous enterprise.
His passing left his family and followers with the responsibility of preserving the institutions and ideals associated with his life’s work.
Adwoa Safo’s declaration offers an opportunity to strengthen cooperation within the family, rebuild trust and focus attention on that shared responsibility.
The coming months will show how the public commitment to reconciliation translates into practical cooperation.
For now, her words have offered a hopeful message: a family’s greatest inheritance is not merely what a father leaves behind, but the unity with which his children preserve it.
Moment of Wisdom; Time for Wisdom.
