A controversial €5,000 Germany visa dispute has sparked questions about media due diligence after Maame Frimpongmaa of Lawson FM discussed allegations involving businessman Benjamin Addai on a live programme.
According to the account presented, Evangelist Samuel Fobi of True Faith Church, Kumasi-Abuakwa, and his uncle Elder Acheamfour, aka Kofi Adama of Abrepo, raised concerns over money paid in connection with a German visa application. However, Benjamin Addai maintains that he was not the travel agent, but only helped to mediate on behalf of Samuel Fobi’s sister, Lucy, who lives in Germany.
The travel agent, Alhaji Osman, reportedly submitted the visa application to the German Embassy, but the application was refused. He was allegedly prepared to refund part of the €5,000 after deducting expenses incurred, while Lucy demanded a full refund.
