KATH CEO Pays Maiden Courtesy Call on New Asantehemaa Nana Yaa Akyaa II

Baidoo, has paid his maiden courtesy call on the newly installed Asantehemaa, Nana Yaa Akyaa II, during the 5th Akwasidae Festival of the year, held at the Manhyia Palace on Sunday, July 19, 2026.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Dr. (Med) Paa Kwesi

The visit formed part of the CEO’s efforts to strengthen the long-standing relationship between Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and the revered Asante Kingdom. It also demonstrated the hospital’s recognition of the important role traditional leadership continues to play in promoting the welfare and development of the Ashanti Region.

During the visit, Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo respectfully paid homage to the new Asantehemaa, congratulated her on her ascension to the prestigious stool, and sought her wise counsel, blessings, and prayers as he leads one of Ghana’s largest referral and teaching hospitals.

According to KATH, the courtesy call was intended to reaffirm the hospital’s commitment to serving the people of Ashanti and Ghana with dedication, professionalism, and excellence while working closely with traditional authorities.

Before meeting the Asantehemaa, the CEO and his delegation had also paid homage to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace as part of their participation in the Akwasidae celebrations.

The visit comes at a time when Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital continues to face increasing pressure due to its role as a major referral centre serving the Ashanti Region and several neighbouring regions. Against this backdrop, engaging traditional leaders reflects the importance of building strong partnerships that can support healthcare delivery and community development.

For many observers, the CEO’s visit highlights the enduring relationship between modern healthcare institutions and Ghana’s cherished traditional leadership structures. The Asantehene and Asantehemaa have long been advocates for improved healthcare, education, and social development within the Ashanti Kingdom.

As Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo continues his stewardship of KATH, his decision to seek the blessings and guidance of both the Asantehene and the newly installed Asantehemaa sends a message of humility, respect for tradition, and a desire to unite stakeholders behind the hospital’s mission of delivering quality healthcare.
